Before your assessment

Assessment can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to have questions about what to expect.

We’ve put together a few things to help you or your child feel more prepared, understand what the process may look like,
and know what happens from here.

A quick hello before you arrive

Knowing a little about where you’re going and what to expect can make arriving for an assessment feel easier.

Take a quick look around our practice and see what it will be like when you arrive.

When you arrive, we’ll guide you through what happens next.

Your guide to assessment

You don’t need to study, practise or prepare the “right” answers for an assessment.

Our Starting Assessment Guide explains what to expect throughout the process — from your first appointment and assessment sessions through to feedback and your report.

It also includes some simple ways to help prepare a child or young person for their assessment.

There’s nothing you need to complete — this guide is simply here to help you feel more prepared.

You don't need to know what to say or do before an assessment.

An assessment is about understanding you or your child more clearly — including strengths, differences, experiences and areas where some additional support or understanding may be helpful.

There are no right answers and no need to be anything other than yourself.

Come as you are. We'll guide you through each step.

If you have a question before your appointment, our Client Care team is always happy to help.
